Exclusive Tommy Hodgson Interview
Tommy Hodgson, who fights out of Newcastle made his professional debut in August with a points win over Naeem Ali and is looking to be a part of the growing talent pool that is coming out of the north east with the likes of Joe Laws, April Hunter and Josh Kelly.
Tommy is closing in on his second fight in the pro ranks when he fights this Saturday in Rotherham.
'Hi Tommy, how are you and how is training going?
"I’m feeling amazing at the minute mate as the ball is rolling..boxing week Saturday in my 2nd professional outing with only boxing 27th august I’ve kept the momentum going."
You made your pro debut last month in Sheffield how did you find the whole experience and how much different was it to the amateurs?
"Best experience of my boxing career so far, was amazing mate the whole set up was class. You have a lot more time in there compared to the amateurs you don’t have to chase anything you have a lot of time to look is what I got from it."
Having a big following and fighting on a platform like Fightzone do you feel like you have a big pressure to perform?
"No mate having the big following gives me that buzz, gives me the get up n go. I don’t want to invite everyone to come watch me and under perform, I make sure all boxes are ticked going in there so there is no pressure at all just time to enjoy it."
What can the fans and everyone watching expect from the career of Tommy Hodgson ? What will you bring to the sport in and out of the ring ?
"I am who I am, I won’t change to suit people or to be noticed. Hopefully bring some big nights n big fights to Newcastle one day with the north east lot coming through."
Now you’re professional career has started what is your main goal to achieve?
"My main goal is to leave the sport knowing I give it my all. That’s all I ask for."
