Lawrence Okolie becomes Cruiserweight World Champion



Lawrence Okolie knocks out Glowacki in 6 rounds to win the WBO Cruiserweight title in just his 16th professional fight

'The Sauce' dominated the fight with a near punch perfect performance , boxing at range not allowing Glowacki close to him. The stiff jab from Okolie was key for him to keep the distance and set up his own power shots.

Okolie looked a completely different fighter from those fights earlier in his career which weren't the easiest fights to watch , but under trainer Shane McGuigan he has improved massively and is now World Champion.

In the post fight interview Lawrence called out Maris Breidis , a potential unification bout that could take place later this year. Okolie also has plans to eventually move up to Heavyweight but that is something yet to be confirmed.

Joe Cordina returned to the ring after 16 months to defeat Faroukh Kourbanov in a majority decision with the scorecards reading , 96-95 , 96-96 and 98-93.

' I didn't think it was close at all ' Cordina said. ' I thik he nicked one or two rounds , maybe three. I was comfortable and didn't really get out of second gear.'

Cordina boxed well throughout the fight and looked comfortable on his way to a majority decision win to move to 12-0 as a professional.




Anthony Fowler moved to 14-1 with an early knock out win over Jorge Fortea inside 3 rounds.

In his third fight under trainer Shane McGuigan Fowler looked a more mature fighter picking his shots well . 

'The Machine' looked in control and dropped Fortea with a left hand late in the third round. Fortea managed to get to his feet but Fowler pounced and sent the Spaniard to the canvas with a massive right hand , with Fortea not beating the count.

After the fight Eddie Hearn spoke about a potential fight with Sergio Garcia who is the current Super Welterweight European champion,

There was also a mention that Fowler could fight the winner of Ted Cheeseman v JJ Metcalf who fight on the undercard of Povetkin v Whyte 2 on March 27th.



Chris Billam-Smith secured a hard fought win over Vasil Ducar , scoring 2 knockdowns on the way to a UD victory and claim the vacant WBA Continental Cruiserweight Title.

Billam-Smith , Another fighter trained by Shane McGuigan , claimed his 12th victory of his career. 

'CBS' floored Ducar in the fourth round with a right hand and then down again in the 6th.




23 year old Bradley Rea made it 10 wins in the pro ranks and kept his unbeaten record with a stoppage win over Lee Cutler.

Rea dropped cutler a minute and half in to the first round , Rea hurt Cutler with a big uppercut then went on the attack with a barrage of punches sending Cutler down for the first time in the fight.

Bradley Rea didn't let Cutler off the hook , going straight back on the attack sending Cutler down for the second time. 

Cutler made the count but the fight was all over when Rea sent his opponent to the canvas for the third in under 2 minutes.

Bradley Rea now has a record of 10-0 with 4 knockouts.




Also in action , Ellie Scotney who overcame Frances Mailys Gangloff with a points decision , the card reading 55-59.




Ramla Ali made it 2-0 in the professional game with a points victory over the brave Bec Connolly.
