Mauricio Lara vs Josh Warrington 2 Preview

Mauricio Lara vs Josh Warrington 2 Preview

Josh Warrington seeks revenge over Mauricio Lara this weekend in Leeds after his crushing loss to the Mexican in February.

Headingley, Leeds is the host to this mega rematch in the Featherweight division as Josh Warrington looks to get back on track to secure another World title. 'The Leeds Warrior' vacated his IBF crown shortly before his shock defeat to the Mexican.

In the first meeting between the pair Lara dismantled Warrington in devastating fashion. The Leeds man had never experienced a beating like that in the ring and that's why fans are pessimistic about his chances this weekend.

The main point from Josh's defeat is that he tried to engage with the Mexican and went blow for blow and as us UK fight fans know you cant do that with a Mexican fighter who are known for being notoriously tough, 9 times out of 10 they will come out on top.

If Warrington wants to win this fight he will have to box and move, pick his shots and keep the distance to avoid Lara's power.

Mauricio Lara knows he has the power to hurt Warrington, he knocked down the Yorkshire fighter three times in the first fight and had Warrington on seriously unsteady legs throughout the fight.

Conor Benn's rescheduled fight against Adrian Granados will take place on the undercard, originally scheduled for week 1 of Fight Camp the bout had to be postponed due to Conor Benn testing positive for Covid-19 on fight week.

Dubbed as another step up fight for Benn this could shoot him up the rankings and ever closer to a World title shot which him and his team are eyeing up for 2022. After wins over Sebastian Formella and Samuel Vargas the potential was there to see and now as the Conor Benn name is growing, fans want to see that step up in class with bigger and better fights.

If Benn wins this fight against Granados he could well be on course to fight Amir Khan or Kell Brook providing the two long time rivals don't end up sharing the ring together. Another name on Benn's hit list is Adrian Broner, former World champion.

Womans Boxing pioneer Katie Taylor takes another step to cementing her legacy as one of the best female fighters of all time as she defends her undisputed crown against American Jennifer Han (18-3-1).

Taylor is on the verge of scoring a mega fight with rival Amanda Serrano in the future if she overcomes this challenge on Saturday but she cannot overlook her opponent Han.

Maxi Hughes gets a chance of a lifetime as he bids to be crowned the IBO World champion when he fights Jovanni Straffon who himself made a statement when he knocked out James Tennyson inside 1 round earlier this year. Maxi has been on a great run recently and is being rewarded for his work, that includes wins over Jono Carroll, Vikto Kotochigov and most recently Paul Hyland Jnr.

Hopey Price fights for the second time in a month after his Fight Camp appearance. He fights 16-1 Zahid Hussain for the vacant IBO International belt in the super bantamweight division. Hopey Price is a fighter with huge amounts of potential and this is the fight that will show fans where he is at against a solid opponent rather than fighters he is expected to beat comfortably. Hussain who has only suffered 1 career defeat to date will be a tough challenge for the 21 year old. Both fighters are from Leeds which will make victory even sweeter for the winner.

Fan Favourite Ebanie Bridges who also fought less than a month ago will appear on the card against French fighter Mailys Gangloff. Bridges has built up a big fanbase in the UK since her first appearnce on UK soil against Shannon Courtenay in april which ended in defeat. Ebanie always brings entertainemnt wether it is in the build up to the fight or in the ring itself and has been praised for the eyes she has brought on to the womans side of boxing.

Popular local fighter Jack Bateson will bring an army of fans as he fights in his hometown of Leeds against Nicaraguan Felix Garcia to open up the Dazn broadcast.

Brandon Stansfield will take on MJ Hall in the super welterweight division whilst light heavyweight debutant will fight Antony Woolery. Both of these fights will be broadcast on Before The Bell live on Matchroom's social media channels.
