Daniel Dubois scores an explosive KO victory on return to the ring
'Dynamite' Daniel Dubois proved he is still a genuine heavyweight contender to watch with a stoppage victory over tough Romanian Bogdan Dinu inside two rounds last night.
Questions were answered over Dubois's comeback , some were writing off the 23 year old after a crushing defeat against Joe Joyce late last year when Dubois took a knee and took no further part in the fight after a damaging eye injury but the London man looked in complete control and the improvements were there but not in abundance having only been with Shane McGuigan several weeks or so.
15 seconds in to the second round Dubois put his foot down and launched an attack on Dinu landing a huge right hand sending Dinu down to the canvas which would draw and end to the fight. Dubois looked massively relieved after a tough 6-7 months in the boxing ring , parting with trainer Martin Bowers , an unsuccessful stint with Mark Tibbs but things are now looking back on track with seasoned trainer Shane McGuigan.
The question now is what next for Daniel? Rematch with Joe Joyce? Go down the WBA route and fight for one of the many titles the WBA have? Either way last nights win put Dubois back in a great position in his career and at 23 years old the opportunities will be endless in the coming years
Fan favourite Nathan Heaney put on a clinical display for his 600 loyal fans in attendance although they made the noise of 6000! The Stoke man made light work of his Bulgarian opponent Markov with a punishing body shot. Heaney looks somewhat limited as a fighter but still possesses the power to hurt his opposition . Targeting the body throughout pay dividends when Markov went down with a delayed reaction to a brutal body shot that marked the end of the fan and to the delight of the wild Stoke fans in attendance.
Tommy Fury proved to his doubters he is more than just a name and has some sort of potential in the sport with a points victory over game Jordan Grant, Coming in to the fight there was question marks over his opponent , the first with a winning record , but Grant was on the front foot from the get go. He landed some solid shots on Fury but the Manchester man took them well and landed some clean shots of his own. This was a much needed fight for Tommy , a great learning fight and a step in the right direction.
There were also wins for Irish Middlewight Caoimhin Agyarko with his opponent Ernesto Olvera retiring on his stool before the 4th round. Bantamweight Liam Davies scored a stoppage win over Stefan Slavchev. Daniel Buciuc , George Bance and Adan Mohamed were all winners on the night.
