Exclusive Stanley Stannard interview

Exciting Middleweight prospect Stanley Stannard , who fights out of Harby , Leicester who is currently 4-0 as a professional , with 2 wins coming inside the distance. 

Stannard is trained by the highly respected Carl Greaves and is tipped to do big things in the coming years.

I asked Stanley some questions 

Question ; Hi Stanley , first off how are you? I imagine you're still on a high after your recent win?

Stannard ; 'I'm Really good thank you. I'm enjoying my week off after my win because it's been a long time coming, But I can't wait to get back in the gym on Monday ready for the next one.'

Question ; Last Friday you defeated Genadij Krajevskij by fifth round knockout , how do you feel your performance went and did it go as expected?

Stannard ' When I found out I was boxing Genadij I had a little watch of him on YouTube , he boxed different when I got in there as he didn't throw as much as I expected and was waiting a lot so I had to take the fight to him a bit more each round. It's been a long time out so I didn't want to rush anything but towards the end I knew if I put my punches together I could stop him and I'm glad I did because I feel that's a good statement and my fans enjoyed it.'

Question ; How was the experience of your first fight with Fightzone and Dennis Hobson , in a fairly big event and do you think Fightzone will be making big moves in the sport showcasing all these up and coming fighters?

Stannard ; 'The Fightzone experience was amazing , I spent 3 days in the bubble and everyone got on well and I couldn't believe how good the set up was. I hope this is a turning point now as it's been hard for young prospects like myself I get out and box over the past 18 months , so with these opportunities it does open some doors for a lot of boxers and I'd love to see it grow and do well. '

Question ; You return to the ring in September against 7-1 Kyle Fox m what kind of fight are you expecting come fight night?

Stannard ; 'Yes I'm back in the ring against Kyle Fox. We actually boxed each other twice in the amateurs so we have some history. We're both doing well in the pros now and he's only lost in a title fight. I think this is a fight everyone can get excited for and I will be training hard as always to make sure I secure another win.'

Question ; What are your career ambitions and what are you aiming for?

Stannard ; ' Within my career I want a British Title at the absolute minimum. It's hard to predict the future but I have always dreamed of becoming a World champion and I think you have to be a dreamer to achieve big things so a World title is the ultimate goal.'

Favourite music album? - College Dropout by Kayne West as it's something me and my brothers grew up listening to

Favourite Fight of all time? Micky Ward vs Arturo Gatti 1 as they both fought with their hearts and never stopped punching once.

Favourite upcoming fighter? - It's hard to say my favourite as I have a lot of friends on the same path as me and I like them all. So am I allowed to say myself haha.

A venue that you'd love to fight at? - A place I've always wanted to box since I was a kid is at Motorpoint arena in Nottingham in front of all my friends ,family and fans but Nottingham Forest City Ground would also be a dream come true.
