Joe Joyce moves step closer to World Title shot with stoppage win over Carlos Takam

Joe Joyce stopped Carlos Takam in 6 rounds to carry on his upwards trajectory in the Heavyweight division and move closer to the coveted World title shot , now the number one ranked by the WBO.

'What I want is AJ or Usyk' said Joyce in his post fight interview

Joyce didn't start as quick as he would of liked , getting caught frequently by Takams right hand , but didn't seem to be fazed by the shots and carried on to plunge forward demonstrating why his nickname is the Juggernaut.

Takam started to tire from the fifth creating an opening for Joyce to pounce. Seconds after the bel rang to start the sixth round , Joyce threw a stinging left hook that sent Takam backwards , nearly hitting the canvas. Joyce carried on his assault landing countless punches to no reply which forced the referee to halt the action much to the surprise of Takam , complaining to the ref about the stoppage and looked very angry with he decision.

So, with a statement victory over the tough French-Cameroonian fighter the road to World glory for Joyce is looking ever closer , with late next year a possibility due to the undisputed fight which is in the works for next year.

Ekow Essuman claimed the Welterweight British and Commonwealth titles with a comprehensive stoppage win over Chris Jenkins. The fight started in a tactical and strategic manner with neither fighter willing to fully commit , most of the early rounds were hard to score and could have gone either way. Essuman made a breakthrough in the eight round unloading a barrage of punches forcing the referee to stop the contest.

Hmazah Sheeraz continued his unbeaten run in the pro ranks with a fifth round stoppage victory over Ezequiel Gurria to retain the WBO European super welterweight title. There is plenty of domestics fights to be made in the super welterweight decision and it will be interesting to see Sheerazs next move.

David Adeleye added another KO to his record with a win over Mladen Manev in the fourth round. Adeleye needs a step up in his next fight or to rematch Sokolowski.

There were also wins for Chris Bourke , Sam Noakes , Charles Frankham , George Fox , Micky Burke and Michal Soczynski respectively.
