Joshua Buatsi knocks out Ricards Bolotniks in spectacular fashion
Joshua Buatsi brutally stopped Ricards Bolotniks in the eleventh round in the finale of Matchroom's Fight Camp series.
In his toughest test to date, Rio Olympian Joshua Buatsi looked to make his mark on the Light Heavyweight division and send a message to his rivals in the division.
However it wasn't as straight forward as fans were expecting with Bolotniks proving his toughness throughout taking Buatsi's best shots and more.
Buatsi did make a breakthrough in the sixth, dropping the Latvian with a spiteful left hook halfway through the round. Bolotniks rose to his feet but looked visibly hurt and the end of the fight felt imminent. 'JB' pounced on his opponent landing big shot after big shot, but the referee didn't step in and the Brit seemed to tire relatively quickly letting Ricards off the hook and he managed to see out the round.
Bolotniks seemed to take some sort of confidence from the fact he survived the vicious onslaught and started to fire back at Buatsi in the seventh and beyond.
In the eighth Buatsi was deducted a point for continuing to hit below to belt.
Deep in to the eleventh Buatsi got his breakthrough landing a devastating right hand landing flush on Bolotniks, ending the fight there and then.
Buatsi's promoter Eddie Hearn stated after the fight that he could potentially fight in the United States in late November before a World Title shot at the beginning of next year whether that is Dmitry Bivol is yet to be decided.
In the co-main event Joe Cordina made light work of Joshuah Hernandez blitzing the American within a minute of the first round.
Cordina came in to the fight knowing a win here would lead him in to a final eliminator for a World title. Hernandez who previously took Chris Colbert to the distance over eight rounds was meant to be a stern test for the Welshman however Cordina walked through him to get the victory.
Michael McKinson made it 21 wins as a professional with a one sided dominating win over Przemyslaw Runowski over ten rounds. The Portsmouth man is extremely effective in his work, his tricky southpaw style is hard to defend against and he is great at taking away his opponents strengths, which is exactly what he did over the distance.
The brilliant and flashy Kash Farooq made it three consecutive wins since his sole loss to Lee McGregor a couple years ago, with a shutout win over Luis Castillo.
Farooq displayed superb head movement and unbelievable boxing ability on his way to a unanimous points decision victory and looks like a real talent in the Bantamweight division. A rematch with Lee McGregor is being touted but it remains to be seen if that will happen at this stage of both fighters careers.
Hopey Price continued his faultless start to his professional career. The decorated amateur scored a points victory over unbeaten Italian Claudio Grande and almost scoring a KO victory after flooring his opponent at the very end of the sixth and final round.
Raymond Ford scored an impressive stoppage win over Reece Bellotti , whilst Zelfa Barrett beat Viorel Simion when his opponent failed to come out for the fifth round.
