Joshua Buatsi vs Ricards Bolotniks preview
Rio 2016 bronze medalist Joshua Buatsi is fast approaching his biggest test to date in the professional game when he faces Golden contract winner Ricards Bolotniks in the finale to the Fight Camp series.
Buatsi, now 14-0 in the pro ranks and now looking to build his way to the heights of World level in the light heavyweight division and that starts tonight with his acid test against the Latvian force that is Ricards Bolotniks.
So far in his career Buatsi has fairly comfortably breezed by most of his opponents with the exception of Marko Calic which was a much harder test than first thought but he managed to pick up the win by way of a seventh round KO. Most recently Buatsi beat Daniel Dos Santos by KO in May.
Now trained by Virgil Hunter, Buatsi will be hoping to secure a big win tonight at Matchroom HQ and get a final eliminator for the WBA World title which is owned by Dmitry Bivol or go straight for that fight with the exceptional Russia fighter.
Bolotniks, who fights out of Riga, Latvia will be hoping to cause the upset tonight against one of Britain's best prospects.
Most recently Ricard Botlotniks took part in MTKs Golden Contract tournament at Light Heavyweight, taking the crown in that event. On the way to winning the tournament he beat Steven Ward in the quarter-finals, then went on to beat Britains Hosea Burton and in the final he stopped Serge Michel in the last round.
I believe this will be a tough test for Joshua Buatsi but one he will overcome and I think he will do it in exceptional fashion.
Further down the card Michael McKinson makes his return to the ring after he beat Chris Kongo earlier this year on the Dillian Whyte vs Povetkin 2 card in Gibraltar. McKinson is currently ranked number 4 with he WBO and a win here would potentially move him up the rankings and secure him a big fight, one he thoroughly deserves.
His opponent tonight Przemyslaw Runowski, Polish Welterweight with a record of 19 wins and just 1 defeat which was against Josh Kelly in April 2019. Runowski will be game and coming to win as he knows a victory here will change his life and hand him opportunities like he has never seen before.
The stylistic Kash Farooq also features on the card against Lusi Castillo. Farooq is such a talented fighter and great to watch when he displays his Boxing ability in the ring but faces tough Mexican Castillo.
Joe Cordina will be hoping to set up a final eliminator for a world title if he overcomes Joshuah Hernandez. Hernandez will be a tricky customer even though his record doesn't suggest that. With a avergae record of 10-3 on paper it looks to be a walk in the park for Cordina but with a points loss to the now World level Chris Colbert shows he will come to win and has the experience to trouble Cordina.
American Raymond Ford will look to get back to winning ways when he collides with Fight Camp regular Reece Bellotti. Ford is no stranger to the British shores already fighting here before in his nine fight career when he appeared on a Nxt Gen card in Nottingham a couple years ago.
Late addition Zelfa Barrett fights Romanian Viorel Simion and Hopey Price is taking on fellow unbeaten fighter Claudio Grande from Italy.
