Kid Galahad vs Jazza Dickens Review

Kid Galahad overcomes Jazza Dickens to claim IBF World Featherweight title

Sheffield's Kid Galahad put on a boxing masterclass to beat the brave Jazza Dickens to grab the vacant IBF World title.

Eight years on from their British title fight , in which Galahad left victorious after a tenth round TKO, both of the fighters left it all on the line in a bid to win the vacant title which was vacated by Josh Warrington last year and the title Galahad once challenged for but came of second best.

The fight opened in a lively manner, with Dickens starting competitively but suffered a cut after a clash of heads in the first. The opening couple of rounds were reasonably close and hard to score.

Pushing in to the mid rounds Galahad started to get in to his rhythm landing flush, clean and precise shots in flashy combinations. Dickens continued to try and find gaps in Galahads defence but had no success and his cuts started to worsen. Galahad was warned for repeatedly standing on the foot of the Liverpool fighter in the sixth but then got a point deduction in the tenth for the same offence.

With Galahad in full swing, Dickens failed to come out for final and retired on his stool, meaning the Sheffield Fighter would finally realise his dream and become World Champion.

After the fight Galahad went on to say 'If I fight Warrington, he's not going twelve (rounds). In what would be a rematch of the 2019 fight which Galahad thought he won.

In the co-main event Fabio Wardley continued his destructive path in the Heavyweight division knocking out Nick Webb in just one round which surprised the vast majority of fans as this was expected to be a tough fight for Ipswich fighter.

The British Heavyweight division is wide open with the British title expected to become vacant which is held by Joe Joyce and a bundle of fighters who could be in line to face Wardley next.

Alan Babic and Mark Bennett collided in an entertaining but brutal affair , with the two giving absolutely everything in a non stop war. The fight was a much anticipated one after the two collided at the weigh in on the previous day which made the fight more intriguing as many believed Bennett wasn't fazed by the Croatian.

Babic was straight on the front foot from the first bell with every punch being thrown with dangerous intent but Bennett refused to fold and  hit back at Babic. Both fighters looked exhausted after the first couple rounds and neither looked like they were going to make the final bell.

Finally Babić's pressure paid dividends when Bennett failed to come out for the Sixth after five rounds of brutal punishment but he did hold his own in the fight gaining a mass amount of respect.

Johnny Fisher continued his 100% win and knockout record with a second round stoppage win over Danny Whitaker, Ebanie Bridges opened the Dazn Broadcast with an impressive win over the tough Bec Connolly stopping her in third. Aqib Fiaz also picked up a win over Kevin Baldospino on the Before The Bell broadcast.
