David Avanesyan blitzes through Liam Taylor in 2 rounds to retain EBU European title
David Avanesyan viciously stopped his mandatory challenger Liam Taylor inside two rounds to keep hold of his European welterweight crown.
Both fighters attacked with pure aggression from the opening bell that set the tone for the fight which would be Taylor's downfall. Avanesyans relentless style meant Taylor couldn't evade the power punchers of the Russian.
Taylor suffered a first round knockdown after a ferocious right hand sent him on to one knee, the 12 rounds were unlikely to be completed at this point. Avanesyan smelt blood and pounced on Taylor in the second round, opening up Taylor's defence with power shot after power shot and staggered his opponent with a huge left hook resulting the referee to wave off the contest with no complaints from the Taylor corner.
Avanesyan will be targeting a World title shot after making 4 successful defences of his European belt.
Richard Riakphore returned to the ring after almost two years out of the ring due to an injury and boxed to a comfortabale win over Kryzstof Twardowski. Riakphore dropped his opponent in the seventh but failed to capitalise and Twardowski managed to see out the fight and heard the final bell.
Ebonie Jones recorded a convincing win on her professional debut, beating Vaida Masiokaite over 6 rounds. Jones, 23, demonstrated her aggressive style from the offset, charging out of her corner from the very first bell.
Linus Udofia stopped Xhuljo Vrenozi inside three rounds to improve his record to 17-0, Vrenozi was hurt on multiple occasions in the fight and was knocked down with an uppercut prior to the stoppage. Vrenozi's corner threw the towel in during the third to end the contest.
Germaine Brown defeated Jamal Le Doux in an eliminator for the English Super middleweight title. The pair went toe to toe over the 10 round distance. The fight was fought at close distance with brown getting the better of exchanges scoring to the body throughout the fight and put together some great combinations that lead him to a 99-92 victory, however it was a closely contested battle that's not reflected on the scorecards.
Miakel Lawal opened up the show with a quick third round over Benoit Huber to improve his record to 15-0, Lawal stunned Huber in the third prompting the referee to bring a halt to the contest much to the dismay of Huber who was visibly not happen with the call to stop the fight and protested the decision even on his way out of the ring.
KO artist Joe Pigford made it 17 KO's out of 18 wins with a fifth round stoppage win over Isaac Aryee and Harvey horn scored a convincing points win against Adam Yahaya winning every round.
Alireza Ghadiri (or Razor Ali as he is better known) put on a classy performance to maintain his unbeaten record with a win against Stefan Nicolae.
