Chris Eubank Jr dominates Liam Williams to move towards World title shot

Chris Eubank Jr dropped Liam Williams four times on his way to a comfortable victory in Cardiff as he prepares for a world title opportunity later in the year.

As British boxing returned for the first time in 2022 Cardiff was the host of an all British middleweight clash. Eubank Jr showcased his superior technical ability over the twelve round distance, showboating throughout and sending Williams down four times in total.

The highly anticipated grudge match struggled to catch fire as many expected pre fight, as Williams had no answer to Eubank Jr's perfectly timed shots. Liam Williams hit the canvas three times in the opening four rounds. The end looked in sight however Williams survived and Eubank Jr coasted through the following rounds.

Williams capitalised on a seemingly tired Eubank Jr in the middle rounds of the fight, bringing himself back in to the fight but all his hard work came undone in the eleventh as Eubank Jr landed a right hand to send Williams to the canvas for the fourth time in the fight.

Round twelve consisted of showboats and taunts from Eubank Jr, much to the dislike of Williams who couldn't land anything on the Englishman.

116-109, 116-108, 117-109 on the judges scorecards, confirmed the victory for Chris Eubank Jr who improves his record to 32-2.

Claressa Shields scored a shutout victory over previously unbeaten Ema Kozin winning 100-90 on all three judges scorecards.

The 'GWOAT' came face to face with Savannah Marshall in her post fight interview, trading insults with each other as the pair prepare to fight later in 2022.

Marshall is the only fighter in the world to hold a win over Shields, in the amateurs or professional ranks.

Tokyo Olympian Caroline Dubois made a winning start to her professional career as she defeated Vaida Masiokaite over six rounds.

Welshman Chris Jenkins defeated former world champion Julius Indongo despite suffering a suspected Broken Hand in the fight.

Steve Robinson suffered a shock defeat to Shane Gill in the Heavyweight division. Gill came in to the fight with a record of 0-1 and was expected to be a relatively easy fight for Robinson.

Samuel Antwi retained his English welterweight title with a points win over Conah Walker in the fight of the night. The pair went toe to toe over the ten rounds but it was Antwi who came out on top. Otto Wallin and Harlem Eubank were also victorious in their bouts to open up the show.
