Amir Khan vs Kell Brook Preview

Amir Khan vs Kell Brook Preview

The fight 10 years in the making finally takes place in Manchester this Saturday night. Amir 'King' Khan takes on 'Special K' Kell Brook. 10 minutes is all it took for this blockbuster clash to sell out the 21,000 seated Manchester Arena.

This decade long rivalry has gripped the nation throughout the years, several back and fourths and many unanswered questions.

It really is a pick 'em fight, Can Khan, who notoriously has bad punch resistance handle a clean shot from Brook? Can Brook contain Khan's speed? Has Brook's punch resistance also dissipated? So many questions to ask, only one way to find out the answers.

Amir Khan last boxed in the middle of 2019, two and a half years ago, how big of an effect will the inactivity have on Khan come fight night? Although Brook's activity hasn't been the level he would've liked coming in to such a big fight, the Sheffield fighter faced Terence Crawford in late 2020 and Mark De Luca earlier that year keeping him busy in 2020.

One of Amir Khan's key attributes throughout his career has been the speed he throws punches, blisteringly fast and accurate causing all sorts of problems for his opponents. Throughout his career Khan has been eager to fight the best out there, regularly chasing a fight with Floyd 'Money' Mayweather but that never materialised. However he did cross paths with current pound for pound king Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, Terence Crawford and Danny Garcia to name a few.

In 2014 'Special K' Kell Brook travelled over to the United States to challenge the then undefeated IBF World Champion Shawn Porter for the IBF Welterweight title. Brook edged a close fight and scored a majority decision over the American.

Kell Brook has never been the same fighter since he suffered a fractured eye socket in his brave but unsuccessful challenge to Gennadiy Golovkin in 2016 which ended in a fifth round retirement. He went on to challenge Errol Spence Jr in 2017 at his hometown club of Sheffield United but fell short once again suffering an eleventh round TKO loss.

Whatever happens on Saturday night, British fight fans can be relieved we finally got to see one of the most talked about fights in the last 10 years and not have to wonder what if.
