Conor Benn destroys Van Heerden in 2 rounds

Conor Benn moved a step closer to his dream of winning a world title with a convincing stoppage victory over South Africa's Chris Van Heerden.

Benn (21-1 14KOs) proved his worth as he dismantled the experienced south African in just two rounds in Manchester. A vicious combination sent Van Heerden down in the second round and he was down for the count.

The former IBO champion did not come close to answering the count, and the bout was waved off inside the first minute of the second round.

Benn's stock is rising fight by fight, fans are calling for the likes of Brook, Broner and Khan. What lies next for Benn is yet to be seen.

"It won't be Amir Khan next," Eddie Hearn said in the ring after the fight, but the Matchroom promoter did promise Benn would be in a "serious fight" next.
