Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Preview
The biggest fight in female boxing is upon us, history awaits. Madison Square Garden hosts an unforgettable undisputed Lightweight bout between Katie Taylor (20-0 6KOs) and Amanda Serrano (42-1-1 30KOs), in front of 17 thousand fans stateside.
Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing and Jake Paul of Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), have come together to produce this blockbuster clash, filling the card with an abundance of talent.
Seven weight world champion Amanda Serrano is seeking to become the first fighter to stop the London 2012 gold medalist Katie Taylor.
There has been much debate on how many rounds the fight should consist of. The current rules in female boxing are that rounds only last two minutes and world championship fights last ten rounds.
Although many fans feel two minute rounds brings more excitement to the fight, as fighters have less time to impress the judges, many feel with the magnitude of the fight, three minute rounds would suffice.

Katie Taylor has been the spearhead of boxing in Britain for the last 6 years, headlining fight cards and claiming world titles in multiple divisions. Her most notable fights include two victories over Delfine Persoon in memorable fights, one at Madison Square Garden on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz and another at Matchroom fight camp.
Serrano has the unbelievable record of being a world champion in seven weight divisions, from Super Flyweight all the way to super lightweight. Notable wins for Serrano include a points win over Heather Hardy in 2019, Yazmin Rivas in in 2017 at the Barclays Centre and her first world title win all the way back in 2011 when she defeated Kimberly Connor to claim the vacant IBF super Featherweight title.
The much anticipated fight clashes with the unification between Oscar Valdez and Shakur Stevenson which will be taking place on the same night but Eddie Hearn believes Taylor vs Serrano is the must watch.
“No one’s talking about Valdez-Stevenson. I’m sorry, it’s a great fight but Taylor-Serrano is a moment in time,” insists Hearn
“The amount of media coming to Madison Square Garden, I’ve never seen anything like it. This fight when it comes around on Saturday will be absolutely massive."
