Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte Preview

 Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte Preview

Top Rank & Queensbury promotions present: clash Of Heavyweight Titans, from the home of English football, Wembley Stadium. Between WBC Heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury (31-0-1 22 KOs) and the mandatory challenger, Dillian Whyte (28-2-0 19 KOs)

Elusive 6' 9" heavyweight, 'The Gypsy King' Tyson Fury makes the second defence of his WBC crown on April 23rd, in front of his home fans for the first time since 2018.

The build up for this fight has been somewhat non-existent, with Dillian Whyte refusing to turn up to the press conference and being rather silent on social media as he believes he deserves a much bigger purse split from the fight. The purse was decided at 80/20 in favour of Fury, much to the annoyance of Whyte and his team.

Tyson is coming off his third and final fight in the Deontay Wilder trilogy that took place back in October last year. Fury scored an emphatic eleventh round KO over his American rival. He has been building his profile in the States for the past three years, with a handful of successful outings, growing his popularity with the American audience.

The Body Snatcher' Dillian Whyte has been waiting patiently on the sidelines for his shot at the WBC title. He was the mandatory challenger for over 1000 days previously and failed to get a shot at the belt. He almost lost his chance to get a shot at the belt when he suffered a shock knockout defeat to Alexander Povetkin in 2020, which saw the Russian snatch the mandatory status away from the Brixton man. Whyte did, however, seek revenge when the pair took to the ring in Gibraltar for the rematch. Dillian dismantled Povetkin in just 4 rounds.

It's no secret that Tyson Fury is one of the most elusive, agile and unpredictable heavyweights of the era and arguably of all time. A 6' 9" heavyweight weighing 270+ pounds has no business moving in the way he does. That's what makes him such a brilliant fighter. Sometimes Fury likes to fight southpaw to shock his opponents or fight on the front foot rather than sitting back and picking his shots. You really don't know what Fury you will get until fight night.

Dillian Whytes chances of victory have been narrowed down to his monstrous left hook, which would be a foolish thing to assume. Whyte has built up a reputation of being a fearsome puncher over recent years, most notably knocking out Derek Chisora in their rematch back in 2018. His resume is up there as one of the best in the division. Wins over Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora and Alexander Povetkin have kept him highly ranked in the division. The only two blemishes on his record are stoppage defeats to former unified World champion Anthony Joshua and now retired Alexander Povetkin.

Predictions

Stanley Stannard (7-0 2 KOs) - Leicester - "Fury points, based on his skill set, hand speed and how elusive he is"

Bradley Rea (13-0 5 KOs) - Manchester - ‘
 I’m going for a Fury late stoppage. I think it will be a pretty one sided fight. Obviously anything can happen in heavyweight boxing especially when you are in with an elite fighter like Whyte, but I just think Tyson is a level above and as long as he’s taken camp fully serious it could look an easy night for him.’

@KristoferBRose - 'Fury by UD, but I can’t lie, a Whyte upset shouldn’t be a massive shock for anyone. If Tyson fights a scrappy fight like he did against Deontay, that’s Dillians bread and butter…'

@TCounterpunch - 'Fury by late stoppage (rounds 9-11). Think Whyte will start strongly and Fury will weather a storm. As fight grows, fury’s movement and ability to sit behind the jab will wear Whyte down and lead to a late victory.'

@rico_boxing - 'Fury between 8-10'

@Joecpfc38 - 'I don’t think fury’s as gifted with his feet as everyone makes out and will get caught while sticking in whytes range Whyte KO 7 imo'

@Boxingrankins - 'Will either be a Fury UD or Whyte late stoppage. Fury doesn’t seem to have the same fire for this fight and Whyte keeping quiet is really helping not helping him!'

@leonTheCanteen - 'Fury KO/Stoppage/Retire on stool/Corner throw in the towel 6-ish rounds.'

@Rah_Hokum - 'I'm going for White to shock the world with a one punch KO after being dominated early and Fury gets careless.  Sort of like Lewis-Rahman I'

@Ryanmisangyi7- 'Whyte Round 7 KO'

@flatt_pete - 'I am going with an early KO win for Tyson Fury. I think within 6 rounds the fight will be over. Might sound mad as Dillian can be in wars but I just think Dillian is going to tire out from missing and moving around so much and will get caught.'

@JoshHart1402 - 'going bold here and saying Dillian Whyte Round 8'
