Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol Preview
Undisputed Super middleweight champion and the number one pound for pound fighter Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (57-1-2 39KOs) looks to become the two time Light Heavyweight champion of the world this Saturday night in Las Vegas when he comes up against the unbeaten WBA Light heavyweight champion, Dmitry Bivol (19-0 11KOs).
Billed as 'Legacy Is Earned', Canelo is chasing yet another world title for his growing collection.
'Canelo' has been on a vicious assault through the divisions in recent years, clearing up at Super Middleweight after being crowned the first undisputed champion in that division in November with a stoppage win over Caleb Plant.
Many fighters have tried and failed to conquer the Mexican with none being successful, apart from Floyd 'Money' Mayweather.
Can the Mexican topple the natural Light Heavyweight in Bivol? Or will Bivol box his way to an upset victory over the number 1 fighter in boxing right now?
Dmitry Bivol, the current WBA Light heavyweight champion, travels in the away corner to T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas to battle Canelo.
Bivol is unbeaten in 19 fights to date, making 8 consecutive title defences in 5 years. Bivol is a true technician in the ring, barely losing a round in his professional career to date and has had a couple of really impressive wins over the last few years. A one sided points decision over Joe Smith Jr back in 2019, to add to his first title defence on UK shores in 2021 when he successfully defended his championship crown against Craig Richards.
What Are The Bookies Saying?
Surprisingly, the bookmakers have Canelo as a huge favourite for Saturday night. Currently Canelo is 1/5 to win the fight and Bivol 3/1.
Dmitry Bivol by decision is a massive 7/1 which would be my tip for the weekend.
