Devin Haney Dominates Kambosos In Australia To Become Undisputed

'The Dream' Devin Haney (28-0 15KOs) became undisputed lightweight champion of the world with a punch perfect performance over George Kambosos Jr (20-1 10KOs) in Melbourne in-front of 40,000 fans.

At just 23 years of age and his 28th fight Haney dominated Kambosos from start to finish in the most highly anticipated fight of the year so far and added the IBF, WBA & WBO world titles to his WBC crown.

Haney's impressive jab was key for the American, peppering the Australian all fight long and using it to control his opponent. Kambosos was unsuccessful in almost every attempt to close the range to Haney, leaving him self open to shots on his way out.

Kambosos had a few moments of success as the fight evolved, catching Haney with a couple of eye catching shots but nothing that threatened the American.

After a valiant effort from George Kambosos Jr it still wasn't enough to get near Devin Haney and the American was awarded the win on the scorecards reading, 116-112, 116-112, 118-110.

Haney became the first undisputed lightweight champion since Pernell Whitaker in 1990 and the first in the four-belt era.

"This is a dream come true," said Haney.

"I was comfortable, I was sticking to the game plan. The game plan was to go in and hit and not get hit, and I did that for the majority of the fight.

"I took the last round off because I knew I was comfortably ahead, but I fought a good, smart fight."

Kambosos suffered his first defeat in his 21 fight career that started in 2013.

"I want to take the best test, the hardest test and I'm going to give him full respect for his victory and let him have his time," said Kambosos.

"We'll do it again. I have to implement a few things but I thought the fight was very close."
