Eggington Wins IBO World Title; Azim Dazzles In Coventry

Sam Eggington (32-7) won the vacant IBO Super Welterweight Title in Coventry on Saturday night with a unanimous decision win against Przemyslaw Zysk (18-1), the scorecards read 119-109, 119-109 and 117-111.

“The Savage” started fast, making everyone believe he would be in for an early night’s work. The first 2 rounds Eggington was relentless, punching the Polish fighter from all angles and stumbling him back to the ropes on multiple occasions. It was clear Przemyslaw Zysk was a very limited opponent, fighting with his chin in the air and not offering anything of value in the opening rounds.

However, as always with Eggingtons fights he made unnecessary hard work of his opponent, being drawn into a battle in the middle to late rounds.

Although Eggington was winning the rounds comfortably on the scorecards Zysk’s efforts were beginning to show, marking up Eggingtons face.

Even though the rounds were competitive with Zysk showing his durability in the ring, Eggington had done enough to take the vacant IBO Title back to his hometown in Smethwick.

Adam Azim (5-0) picked up the Vacant WBC Youth Inter-Continental Super-Lightweight title, demolishing the puzzled Anthony Loffet (8-2) inside 2 minutes of the first round.

Azim dropped the Belgium with a chopping right hand inside the first 35 seconds of the fight, although Loffet managed to pick himself off of the canvas there was still a long time left in the
round. Azim picked his shots perfectly and after a barrage of 1-2s Loffets corner had seen enough with the towel being thrown into the ring.

Another first round finish for the “Assassin”, who is now one of Britain’s hottest prospects.

Tyler Denny (14-2-3) won the Vacant English Middleweight Title in a scrappy but entertaining affair against River Wilson-Bent (12-1-1) via split decision. The scorecards read 94-96 Wilson-Bent, 97-93 and 96-93 for Denny.

The clash of styles created a frustrating bout between the two with a significant amount of holding going on throughout the fight. However Denny’s determination to go home with the English Title was apparent throughout the fight, stalking Wilson-Bent down at any opportunity landing flush shots when he could.

There was a late push from Wilson-Bent in the 12 th round, however it was too little too late and when the scorecards were read the general consensus was that Denny had done enough to claim the title, and that he did.
