Deontay Wilder returns with an explosive knockout over Robert Helenius

Former World Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder marked his comeback with a brutal knockout in the first round to seal an important victory over Robert Helenius.

Wilder came in to this fight knowing a win would set up a final eliminator with Andy Ruiz Jr to become mandatory for Tyson Fury's WBC Title.

Pre fight Helenius was supposed to be a tough test for Wilder on his return, however the 'Bronze Bomber' rubbished that idea and only needed to land 3 punches to add another spectacular knockout to his ever growing highlight reel.

Helenius did bring a come-forward attitude in the opening stages of the fight but Wilder used his movement to circle around the Scandinavian to try and set up his own attacks.

With just 15 seconds left in the first round, Helenius walked in to a monstrous right hand by Wilder that sent the Finnish fighter to the canvas instantaneously, the fight was subsequently called off and the medics rushed to the ring to check on the fighter.

"When guys see these knockouts, they turn the corner away from me. So, I'm down for whatever, whether it's Andy Ruiz or Usyk, let's bring it on." said Wilder post fight.

"Deontay is back and the excitement in the heavyweight division is back."

Wilder has firmly put the heavyweight division on notice and we could potentially see a fourth fight between him and Tyson Fury in late 2023.
